Since his sabbatical in Tanzania last year, Glen Pierce has worked tirelessly to ensure that the highly successful football league will run again. His hard work, coupled with numerous fundraising events held at various UK schools, will raise money to sponsor teams based in the Arusha district and give disadvantaged children the chance to benefit from high-quality training.

A special thank you goes to Caldicott Boys Preparatory where students took part in a 5-a-side football marathon and have managed to raise a staggering £5000 – enough to cover the costs of two school teams! The exceptional energy and commitment that the students have demonstrated is greatly appreciated and Ace is also grateful for the support of the school and its teachers. In addition, Glen has organised for the sale of Eton College House Sweaters embroidered with the school logo and personalised with House Master’s initials to raise funds for Ace Africa. To date, the scheme has raised £1700 and has proved popular amongst students. 100% of the profits go to Ace Africa meaning that money from every order will be put towards helping children in Tanzania.

Glen has truly been a driving force behind the success of the league through his dedication and commitment to raising awareness of our work. We hope to increase the number of UK schools involved in the league to 10 and therefore expand the number of Tanzanian schools and students we can serve positively. Through international partnerships with UK-based schools, we aim to make the league a permanent fixture in the lives of Arusha’s youth.
