24 April 2014Cycle Challenge raises over £85,000 to help children and their families in rural Africa

The Colourful Life Foundation (TCLF) has been supporting Ace Africa’s Community Development Programme in Arusha since 2012 and this year increased its annual grant to £60,000. This has, amongst other things, supported 20 primary schools with water tanks and irrigations kits as well as supplying 750 vulnerable people with medication, sanitary towels and nutritional supplements and households with eco-friendly cooking stoves.

On top of this regular support, TCLF decided to embark on an extraordinary one-off project through cycling to Tanzania and back from the ‘comfort’ of their own office in the UK! With serial entrepreneur and founder of The Genuine Gemstone Company, Steve Bennett heading the team, The Colourful Life Foundation has managed to raise an incredible £85,522.99.

This fundraising event, which saw the group cycle over 17,000 miles, was organised in order to help improve both the access to and the renovation of primary schools where Ace Africa operates.

TCLF and Ace Africa will identify 4 schools in Tanzania in urgent need of renovation and basic amenities e.g. toilets, access to water, doors, windows, desks and chairs as well as kitchens with large eco friendly stoves.

As a result of this amazing cycle challenge, this project hopes to improve the overall educational and hygiene environment for 2,400 children, as well as increasing their school attendance. On behalf of Ace Africa, we would like to thank all those who took part in and contributed to such a fantastic fundraising success. Thank you from the communities where we work in Tanzania.

‘We Made A Difference You Can Too!’

TCLF have recently returned from a trip to Tanzania, where they witnessed first-hand where their kind donations have been implemented so far. The impact it has had in these communities in rural East Africa is immense. It has brought schools that were crumbling back into action, allowing children to learn in a cleaner and more stable environment as well as supplying tools, training and start up kits to grow nutritious vegetable gardens that will ensure at least one nutritious meal a day to all students.
