Community Support Groups
Historically, African communities have come together in times of adversity.
Now, more than ever, community members are establishing support groups to help PLWA and OVC within their community. These groups mainly comprise women and PLWA and are a collective response to the HIV/AIDS crisis. On average, one in three households in the areas where ACE works is infected, every household affected. Support groups provide psychosocial support, food, medication, school fees and basic needs to vulnerable households. ACE works with over 1,200 community members of 60 groups to strengthen their capacity to sustain care and support now and in the future.
