Dickson Kesekwa

Dickson Kesekwa is 26-years old. Both his parents died in 2001 of HIV/AIDS-related causes and he was left to take care of his five younger siblings.

Dickson attended ACE Agriculture and Nutrition training and received start up seeds and tools. Having set up his kitchen garden Dickson was able to ensure that his family got three nutritious meals every day. Dickson's kitchen garden became a model in the area, and he started getting more involved in ACE activities, especially in mentoring other youth in the community.

ACE identified Dickson to participate as a research assistant in a gardening study by Tulane University in 2005. Having demonstrated particular aptitude at communicating messages of good nutrition and farming practices within the community, he was recruited as ACE assistant Agriculture and Nutrition Officer. Currently, Dickson is in charge of the Agriculture project in three of ACE areas.

Dickson is now supporting his own three children, two sisters, three brothers and three orphans.
