Emily Masinde

Emily is 15 years old and lives with her mother and two elder siblings. Her father died of HIV/AIDS-related causes, and her mother despite being on ART, struggles constantly with her health.

Emily's elder siblings had to drop out of school, as the family was unable to meet the cost of fees.

The Masinde family was referred to an ACE counselor, and Emily's mother started receiving nutritional supplements to help boost her appetite. Emily was recommended for an ACE bursary scheme and due to her high national examination marks, she has qualified for an ACE secondary school scholarship at a top ranking provincial school.
