Guardians
Traditionally African societies aim to support and care for children within their community.
These coping strategies are struggling with the increasing number of orphans and vulnerable children due to HIV/AIDS. Grandparents, young people and community carers are on average supporting three orphans within or outside of their homes, in addition to their own children. This impacts household security and drives those already living within tenuous situations into further poverty.
ACE works with guardians to help them provide support to orphans and their own vulnerable children.
