Rucebo

Rucebo is a community umbrella support group founded in July 2006 in Kabuchai area to mirror the ACE holistic approach. Members of the group were trained by ACE and then decided to increase the reach of their activities and co-ordinate support services by setting up Rucebo.

They have set up a mini resource centre modelled on ACE which provides information, educational materials, counselling and VCT services organized in conjunction with ACE. The group holds community sensitization days and pools their resources to provide OVC with basic household items.

ACE has trained the group on proposal writing, household needs assessment and resource mobilization. To date, Rucebo supports over 110 OVC each month with food, medication, shelter and educational materials.

Rucebo plans to independently raise funds to establish their own village banking scheme and food bank to support more OVC and PLWA.
