Tanzania

Tanzania has a total population of 34.4 million people with an estimated 6.5% HIV adult prevalence rate. It is estimated in Tanzania:

  • About 1.4 million people are living with HIV/AIDS
  • About 140,000 people died from AIDS in 2005
  • There are approximately 1.2 doctors or assistant medical officers for every 10,000 people in the Arusha region
