On Sunday the 26
th April we cheered on two amazing supporters of Ace Africa as they completed the gruelling 26.2- mile route through the heart of central London.

Once the elite competitors had cleared the route thousands of spectators across London cheered on over 38,000 charity runners who took part in the London Marathon this year. From racing Minions and giant elephants to a couple who got married en route, this year’s race day atmosphere certainly was electric!

Winning the 35th
annual Marathon this year was Kenyan track star Eliud Kipchoge in 2:04:42. Following closely (!) behind this time was our very own Sam Hopkins completing the race in an incredible 3:06:33.

There was laughter and tears along the route, starting in Greenwich and seeing runners finish the last leg on The Mall, as participants from all over the world ran for various charities close to their hearts. We would like to take this opportunity to say a very special thank you to our amazing Chairman, John Collenette, and Sam Hopkins for taking part in this year’s London Marathon in support of Ace Africa.

So far the two Ace runners have raised over £3,000 – and this figure is still rising! This will go a huge way in supporting our programmes in rural East Africa and we can’t thank you both enough for your continued support of Ace.

The ballot for the London Marathon 2016 opens to applicants on May 4 and will close again at 5pm on May 8. If you would like to Race for Ace in next year’s marathon please email event@ace-africa.org and we can arrange pre-race day support along the way!
