Volunteer ACE Africa - Kenya and Tanzania

ACE Africa welcomes international volunteers to work in our project sites in Kenya and Tanzania. ACE Africa has developed a competitive application process for the limited number of places we have annually. ACE Africa needs volunteers with a range of professional skills and experience who are able to commit to 2 – 6 months. Applicants must be over the age of 18 years, have good communication skills, be willing to work independently and under general supervision and be sensitive to the cultural environment.

All costs relating to air fares, visas, permits, travel, food and accommodation must be met by the volunteer. ACE Africa will NOT be able to meet these costs. ACE Africa will meet the related costs of field transport and/or materials based on an agreed and approved work plan with the volunteer and management team.

ACE Africa volunteer positions currently available for 2011

  • The ACE Africa Secondary School Bursary Scheme support
  • Marketing and communication – materials and staff development
  • Data management, monitoring and evaluation

Research students - ACE Africa Kenya & Tanzania

ACE Africa also offers the opportunity to MPH or PHD students from local or International Universities to conduct operational research in line with ACE Africa programming needs. Self funding researches are encouraged and researches will be conducted in partnership with staff and volunteers

ACE Africa research focuses for 2011

  • Community Livelihoods Initiative - An assessment of the effectiveness of the CLI component in terms of group empowerment, economic and food security and sustainability in the context of HIV and AIDS
  • Changes in ability to identify and protect children’s rights - A comparative study on prevalence and community management of child abuse in ACE Africa areas of intervention and no intervention
  • Reducing stigma - Using the IPPF Stigma Index and the Quality of Life Index - A study involving People Living with HIV and AIDS on their perceptions of change in the stigma and discrimination that is associated with HIV and AIDS.

Current Opportunities

We always love to hear from anyone wishing to volunteer their time. Whether you are looking for a long or short-term internship to gain some work experience, are available a couple of days a week, are keen to work on a specific project, would like to join our Events Committee, or just help out at one of our events, please contact us! We are particularly keen to hear from people who have an expertise in a specific area such as IT technical support, Database CRM experience, Accounting experience, Legal knowledge, Event management experience or other Fundraising experience.

Since we have limited resources, we would generally need you to have your own laptop.
