WHO WE ARE

ACE Africa Vision - Communities which have the capacity and will to provide a sustainable, supportive and caring environment in which children affected and infected by HIV and AIDS can develop to their full potential.

ACE Africa was established in collaboration with the Government of Kenya in September 2003 by the three founders; Joanna Waddington, Augustine Wasonga and Anthony Okoti. Following pioneering research into the lack of community infrastructure and skills to support the increasing number of orphans and vulnerable children in highly HIV affected and resource poor communities in Western Kenya, ACE Africa (Kenya) was registered as a Community Based Organisation in Bungoma district and engaged 4 staff and reached 300 beneficiaries in its first six months of inception.

ACE Africa has since evolved into an organisation which is regarded as a leading Kenyan NGO in sustainable community orphan support and employs 41 local staff in Africa, engages 4,000 community volunteers and has reached over 400,000 direct beneficiaries within 7 years (426,397). ACE Africa is now registered as a Non Governmental Organisation in Kenya, a Non Profit Company in Tanzania and charities in the UK and USA.

HIV and AIDS should, where possible, be cared for and supported within and by their own communities in a culturally relevant manner.
