Can I donate items like clothing, blankets and scholarly materials?

We do not send items from the UK overseas, however good their condition. This is due to custom regulations; the fumigation of second hand items, and the logistics make the process complicated, labour intensive and expensive. We instead encourage supporters to raise money for such items so that we can purchase these resources in country. Please do contact the Ace UK office if you would like to help with the support of a specific item for schools, households or the wider community.

Can I choose to donate money to a specific project, country or item?

Yes. You can donate to a specific project. We have a number of choices from across our programmes in Child Development, Community Health and Wellbeing, Agriculture and Nutrition and Economic Empowerment. Please contact us on info@ace-africa.org to discuss further this option.

We also encourage our supporters to become Friends of Ace. Regular giving means we can plan for the future, as we know we can rely on your donation every month to help develop the communities we support.

Does Ace carry out emergency response?

Ace Africa is a community development organisation, working with communities on a long-term basis. However, in the places where we work, we endeavor to respond to natural disasters and other emergencies where we can make a useful contribution, whether it be to drought or civil unrest as has been experienced in Kenya over our 13 year history.

International Placements

Ace Africa Kenya & Tanzania welcomes international volunteers to work in our project sites. We have a competitive application process and a limited number of places annually. We need volunteers with a range of professional skills and experience who are able to commit from 6-12 months. Volunteers must be over the age of 18 years, have good communication skills, be willing to work independently and under general supervision and be sensitive to the cultural environment.

How much does Ace Africa spend on admin?

From every £1 of income raised in 2014, we spent 87p on our programmes in Africa and 13p on fundraising and governance costs.

Can I sponsor a child?

Since 2005 Ace has helped 145 children complete secondary school, who otherwise would not have had the opportunity.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal bursary and alumni sponsors who have provided life-changing opportunities for children through the gift of secondary and university education in Kenya, where this education is not free. Going forward the programme is being phased out, as governments and other donors increasingly take on the responsibility of providing bursaries and counseling to vulnerable children.

We do have a number of other projects which you can support – specific projects.

Does Ace Africa have any political or religious affiliations?

Ace Africa has no political or religious affiliations. We work with poor and marginalized people in rural East Africa, working with governments, international institutions and partners in close partnership to tackle the root causes of poverty.
