28 October 2021International Day of The Girl Child

On October 11, 2012, the United Nations declared the Day of the Girl Child as an annual event. Each year it aims to raise awareness of the various issues that affect girls around the world, including access to education, health care, and protection from violence and discrimination.

For 2021, the international day of the girl child was celebrated under the theme, ‘Digital generation. Our generation’. Girls are leaders. They are change-makers. They are driving positive change in the world. However, currently there is a severe lack of equal access to digital devices and services for girls in order for them to achieve their full potential. As we know, information is power and digital inclusion is essential for girls to learn, earn and lead not just in Kenya but across the globe.
