Over the last three months, I have had the pleasure of working with four very hard working and talented individuals whose passion for Ace Africa always stands out.
Having grown up in Kenya, the work Ace Africa does is certainly very close to home and something I will always be interested in. Ace’s aim to establish sustainable and independent communities is highly commendable and is something that they are widely recognised and awarded for. Every project is well researched, monitored and supported with Ace staff carrying out excellent work in the field. Having a strong East African workforce within the charity was a pleasure to see.
Volunteering with Ace Africa is also unlike any other experience I have had. With such a small team, you really have the opportunity to get hands on experience and learn from some very experienced individuals. There is very little paper pushing and data entry here! Volunteers are valued members of the team and participate in a wide range of activities in this fun and friendly office. During my time at Ace, I learnt a great deal about grant writing and applications and even submitted several myself. Reading and writing about the project sites and the success stories was always interesting and inspiring. I even participated and fundraised for the British 10km run in July and managed to convince my sister to join me!
I will always remember my time at Ace and hope that any other individual with aspirations for working in the charity sector will gain as much knowledge as I did.
Asante Sana Ace!
