3 August 2015Prudential RideLondon 2015

In the glorious English sunshine on Sunday 2nd August 2015 27 Ace Africa cyclists descended upon the Surrey countryside as part of the Prudential RideLondon – Surrey 100. Starting at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park through London and into Surrey before finishing on The Mall. Club cyclists, celebrities and amateur riders of all varieties were among the 25,565 cyclists who took part in the event with the Mayor of London Boris Johnson naming the event “the greatest mass-participation cycling event in the world”.

Crowds were treated to an appearance from Britain’s very own cycling superstars Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish who took part in the event where we saw Luxembourg rider Jean-Pierre Drucker take the first victory in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic.

Ace Africa spent the day cheering on our mighty team of 27 cyclists as they took on the gruelling 100-mile challenge. All riders managed to complete the course in impressive times with our fastest rider, Jason Curtis, crossing the finish line at 04:49:03 following closely behind by Jason Turner at 04:50:06. Congratulations to both Jason’s!

We are thrilled to announce that our current fundraising total stands at £24,908.50! We would like to thank each and everyone one of our Ace Africa Prudential Team for your enthusiastic fundraising efforts in the lead up to your ride, these vital funds really will go a huge way in supporting our programmes in both Kenya and Tanzania.

Thank you from the Ace UK team and most importantly thank you from the many thousands of children and community members you have managed to help along the way.
